Many people have gotten so used to using a desktop computer that when they go to upgrade to a new model, they do not consider all their options. What they don’t realize is that a Chromebook – once referred to as laptops – is probably a more suitable option for them. Here are five reasons why a Chromebook may be the best way to go when getting a new computer.
Mobility equals flexibility
While your desktop computer can only be set up in one spot, Chromebooks give you the flexibility to use them at not only your desk but anywhere and everywhere. Whether you want to do some work while watching television or want to watch Netflix in bed, netbooks no doubt allow for greater usage.
They are also great for to take out of the house. With WiFi now readily available far and wide students and businesspeople can get all their work done while on the go. You can even take them on holidays, download all your photos as you go and post them online to show off to your friends.
While it may have been the case that a desktop monitor might have once been a lot better than the screen of a Chromebook, these days there is little difference between the two. There are a host of sizes to fit your needs with these most commonly being a 13.3 inch LCD widescreen (1280 x 800 pixels), a 15.4-inch LCD widescreen (1440 x 900 pixels) or a 17-inch widescreen (1680 x 1050 pixels). All you must do is pick the best one for your needs.
Lighter than ever before
It was not that long ago that even a lightweight Chromebook was an effort to take on the road with you. Now you can easily pick up your device, throw it in your back pack and take it anywhere you need to go. A few chromebooks on the market now are under a kilo in weight and only just over an inch thick (some even thinner).
Better performance and battery life
The lack of RAM and hard drive space, along with poor battery life, always limited the appeal of Chromebooks. This is not the case anymore though. As technology gets better, manufacturers can get more storage and longer battery life into the more compact space that a Chromebook has plus a super-fast operating system called ChromeOS. This means you can easily run several programs concurrently and have enough battery life that you don’t need to be constantly charging.
Better features than ever before
They are now full of added features that make them even more appealing. You will have to look at which models have which added extras, but with the likes of DVD/Blu-Ray players, webcams, multiple USB ports, built-in microphones and audio and digital input/output you are sure to have all you need.
With all these advantages to owning one over a desktop be sure to try one out before purchasing your next computer.
